Celebrating Success in an Unprecedented Year
The Detlev team went into 2020 with optimism and an eye on growth. In our wildest dreams, we could never have anticipated shutting down the salon for two months, and having to create a new normal upon return.
Masks, sanitizers and social distancing became part of our daily lives, and our amazing team has created an environment we all feel good about.
Leading beauty industry magazine Salon Today recently took notice of our efforts in its annual Salon Today 200 competition, naming Detlev Salon in Coconut Grove, Florida, as one of its elite 200.
Surviving and Thriving
The Salon Today 200 competition shifted its focus from growth to success and survival in 2020, and Detlev was recognized for its ability to pivot and keep the salon running safely and successfully.
We changed our hours to accommodate social distancing, installed partitions, hired a sanitizing company, and trained our team in new safety protocols. We even gained new guests through a Today show segment we were featured on a couple months after re-opening.
“It has been great to see my team embrace all these new changes, even though it hasn’t been easy,” says Detlev Gessner, owner. “We talk daily about working together to make this all work and how we can continue to grow.”
One thing we do know—we couldn’t have done it without our loyal guests. Thank you for helping us achieve this honor and sticking with us through thick and thin. Here’s to a thriving, healthy 2021!
